Looking for a 15-Yard or a 20-Yard? We don’t stock either one. The 13 and the 17 sit on both sides of a 15, and the 17 is usually the better buy — an extra foot of wall height costs $50. Looking for a 20? Our 21 covers it.
Notice the footprints. The 13, 17 and 21 are all 14 x 7 on the ground. Same driveway space, different wall height. So the question isn’t whether the bigger one will fit. It’s how much you want to throw away.

10 Yard
2,000 lbs included. Single bath gut, fence tear-out, or any load heavy enough that a bigger box hits its weight ceiling before it fills.
13 Yard
3,000 lbs included. One-room remodel, cabinets and countertop out.
17 Yard
4,000 lbs included. Single-slope re-roof, larger one-room job. This is the box people mean when they ask for a 15.
21 Yard
5,000 lbs included. Whole-house flooring, kitchen down to studs, rental turnover.
30 Yard
7,000 lbs included. Commercial cleanout, tenant finish-out.
40 Yard

Concrete, brick, dirt, rock and other clean heavy fill go in a dedicated low-side box. That’s $450, with the weight quoted per project, because heavy loads price by what’s actually in them. Don’t put that material in a standard can. You’ll bury it before it’s a third full.

What You Throw In Is What Moves the Bill
Every can we run comes with weight included, and that number is printed right beside the price above. The 10-yard carries 2,000 lbs. The 40-yard carries 10,000 lbs. Anything past the allowance is $59 per ton, and it’s the same $59 on every size. No sliding scale, no surprise line item.
That’s the number to watch on a heavy load. Shingles, tile, plaster, dirt and rain-soaked carpet weigh a lot more than they look like they do, so on a heavy job the allowance is usually what picks the size, not the space.
If the job is mostly concrete, brick, rock or dirt, it doesn’t belong in a regular can at all. That material goes in the low-side box instead, and the weight on that one is quoted per project rather than published, because a box of broken slab and a box of brick aren’t the same load.

Where the Can Sits in Troup

Troup sits in the southeast corner of Smith County and the northeast corner of Cherokee County. Most of the city is on the Smith side, with the limits running south across the line into Cherokee. Which county’s rules apply comes down to the address, not the town name, so for anything a county administers it’s worth confirming rather than assuming.
It shows up in disposal too. On the Smith side the receiving facility is Greenwood Farms Landfill, TCEQ permit 1972A, the one the City of Troup points its own residents to. South of the line the counterpart is Royal Oaks Landfill, TCEQ permit 1614A, in Cherokee County. Both are Type I sites, and under TCEQ’s own definition a Type I landfill is authorized to accept all types of municipal solid waste, where a Type IV is limited to brush, construction and demolition debris and rubbish. A mixed renovation load is inside what a Type I can take, either side of the line. Give us the address when you call and we’ll work from that.

And a permit expires at 365 days, so don’t pull one a year ahead of a job that keeps slipping.

Bulk pickup is free, twice a month, and you have to phone for it. Troup runs a free bulk and large-item collection through Republic Services on the first and third Thursdays of each month. It isn’t automatic. You call Republic Services at 903.586.1449 to schedule it, and that same call is where you find out what they’ll actually take.
Worth being straight about the part that’s missing. Troup publishes no cubic-yard cap, no weight limit and no accepted or excluded item list for bulk, so there’s nothing to plan a job around ahead of the call. If the whole pile is a couch, a mattress and a dresser that finally gave out, make the call. That’s not a rental.
The rest of the schedule, for planning: household garbage runs weekly on Wednesdays, recycling on the second and fourth Wednesdays, and carts have to be at the curb by 6:00 a.m. through August 31 and by 7:00 a.m. the rest of the year.
One Free Load a Month, and Troup Tells You Exactly How Big
Here’s the part most towns won’t put a number on. If you’re a City of Troup water customer, you get one free trip a month to the Republic Services Greenwood Farms Landfill in Tyler with up to 3 cubic yards of non-hazardous material. Take a copy of your water bill as proof, and cover the load. The city’s wording on that last one is blunt: the load must be covered or face a fine at the landfill.
Three cubic yards is about a pickup bed. One trip, not one a week. If that’s the whole job, go use it and don’t spend money here.
Where it runs out is easy to see. A demolition, a re-roof, a kitchen down to the studs or a garage that’s been filling up for fifteen years is not three cubic yards, and it doesn’t wait for the third Thursday. Troup has no municipal compost site and no brush or yard-waste drop-off with a published rate either, so a real clearing job has nowhere cheap to send green waste. That’s the point where the can on the driveway stops being the expensive option and starts being the only one that actually moves the pile.
